As the autorun feature of USB drive, viruses can easily infect computer via USB key, flash disk, etc. Autorun.inf file is located in the root directory of the removable drive and contains a reference to the programs, which can be run automatically as soon as the drive is opened on the computer.
When a USB flash drive is inserted in a computer infected with such malware, they copy a malicious executable file in the USB drive and also modify the autorun.inf file with a reference to execute the malicious file. When this virus infected USB is taken to another clean computer, the autorun.inf file cause automatic execution of the worm file and this new computer also gets infected.

How to disable USB autorun manually with Registry Editor

1. Go the Start button and select Run, type REGEDIT and click OK
2. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion \Policies\Explorer

4. Change Hexidecimal value data to FF to completely disable autoplay. Alternately you can choose combinations of values from the following table to customize how autoplay works.
